Jewellery Care Guide

At Le’amore, we take immense pride in the quality and craftsmanship of our jewelry. To ensure your pieces remain as beautiful as the day you received them, proper care and maintenance are essential.

1. DAILY WEAR & CARE

Fine jewelry is delicate by nature. We recommend the following practices for everyday wear:

  • Remove during physical activities: Take off your jewelry before exercising, swimming, playing sports, or doing heavy household chores to prevent scratches or bent prongs.
  • Apply cosmetics first: Put your jewelry on after applying perfumes, lotions, hairspray, and makeup. The chemicals in these products can dull the shine of gemstones and tarnish metals.
  • Keep it dry: Remove jewelry before showering or bathing. Soap can cause a film to form, making it appear dull.

2. CLEANING YOUR JEWELLERY

Regular cleaning keeps your jewelry sparkling:

  • Gentle cleaning: For most jewelry, a mild solution of warm water and a few drops of gentle dish soap works best. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush to gently scrub behind stones where dirt collects.
  • Rinse and dry: Rinse thoroughly with clean warm water and dry completely with a soft, lint-free cloth. Do not use paper towels as they can scratch the metal.
  • Avoid harsh chemicals: Never use bleach, chlorine, or abrasive cleaners on your jewelry.
  • Ultrasonic cleaners: While suitable for diamonds and most hard gemstones, do not use ultrasonic cleaners for pearls, emeralds, opals, or any soft/porous stones.

3. PROPER STORAGE

How you store your jewelry is just as important as how you clean it:

  • Separate pieces: Store each piece individually in a soft pouch or a lined jewelry box to prevent them from scratching each other. Diamonds can easily scratch other metals and gemstones.
  • Keep away from extreme conditions: Store your jewelry in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Clasps closed: When storing necklaces and bracelets, keep the clasps closed to prevent tangling.

4. PROFESSIONAL MAINTENANCE

We recommend having your fine jewelry professionally inspected and cleaned at least once a year. A professional jeweler can:

  • Check for loose stones and worn prongs.
  • Professionally clean and polish the metal to restore its original luster.
  • Re-plate white gold items with rhodium to maintain their bright white appearance.
